3X3 Buildings

3X3 Students analyze and document  buildings on site and in person through hand drawn sketches, photographs, and video. They meet with architects and other experts to better understand the design principles and processes behind what they are studying. The documentation of their work not only focuses on capturing the technical aspects of the building, but also on thinking of and developing the drawings, photos and other media they use to communicate their research as a work of art in its own right. That research is then consolidated and made useful to the profession and general audiences in the 3X3 Buildings list.

It is a freely accessible catalog and record of our student work. It is also a resource for people interested in facade design, building design generally, and the architecture of Paris, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Venice and London. Our dataset of buildings currently includes 54 buildings spanning a 500 year period with hundreds of analytical documents.
